Getting Geared Up @ Work
Jun 25th
Friday was the last day of my first “real” week at IBM as a full time employee. I like the people I work with, I like my job (I think
), and really like the position I hold in the company. Even though I officially started up on the 13th, Monday was the first day that I was able to sit down and actually do stuff.
My position allows me to move around within Systems and Technology Group, a $30(ish) billion division of IBM. Some really cool stuff comes out of here. With the rotation program, I’ll keep the same manager, but will rotate through three different groups in STG over the term of 18 months. Every six months I’ll take a new position, learn a new job, and after a year and a half, pick one of the three and do that full-time. This gives me a tremendous opportunity to move around a division which I hope to get a lot out of.
